Tesla Charger: EV Home Charging Station Installation
CW Electrical Services is a factory authorized Tesla installer for home electric vehicle charging stations. Regardless of your home's existing wiring and panel configuration ( new or old ) we have the electricians with the experience to install exactly what you need to charge your vehicle as fast as possible at home. With older homes it's more likely that we may need to install a sub panel or even replace your existing main panel to accommodate the 240 volt receptacle that the Tesla charger uses.
High Power Charging vs Mobile Connector
Much like the mobile connector that came with your Tesla Model S, the high power wall connector can be used with any NEMA 40-50 outlet. The notable difference between your mobile connector and high power connector is the high power connector's ability to exponentially increase your charge mileage in the same amount of time. Typically an eight hour charge with your mobile connector in a standard wall outlet will be about 25-30 miles. With the high power dual charge connector in eight hours you'll have 240 - 250 miles of charge. That's a little under 10 times faster!
Think of a charger like a faucet filling a bucket, you can only fill as fast as the water can flow through the faucet. To fill the bucket faster, you need a bigger faucet. The Tesla wall connector put to that analogy is comparable to that faucet being a fire hose. A single NEMA 40-50 outlet will allow you up to 20' feet of range, which for a single car garage would be sufficient. If you have a multi car garage, or would like the option to charge outdoors we recommend installing multiple outlets so you can easily charge your electric vehicle with the same wall connector. We also install a hook and docking station for the wall connector to hang out of the way and off the ground where it could be damaged from other vehicles.
